  1. Read a couple biographies on people that are/were successful business leaders – Lee Iacocca, Buck Rodgers, Henry Ford.
  2. Then read a couple of books on sports coaching – John Wooden is probably the best one, also Vince Lombardi.
  3. Become friends with 3 or 4 sales managers in other businesses. Find out what they do. Find out how they do it. Discover their weaknesses.
  4. Begin to think and decide what you would do if you were promoted to sales manager.
